Fish capture course on board Havfisken

The research vessel Havfisken is in Skagerrak to provide a group of MSc students with in-depth practical experience in planning and conducting a fishing gear selectivity trial at sea. 

The fieldwork is part of the DTU course “Fish Capture Technology” which trains the students in designing field experiments, data-collection protocols, evaluating the appropriate experimental method, assessing the quality of the data collected, and applying multiple modelling approaches. 

Moreover, the course familiarizes the students with the commercial fishing sector and the fisheries regulatory system and provides an understanding of the technical and biological principles behind the important active and passive fishing methods.
