Being a PhD student at DTU Aqua

DTU Aqua's PhD programme educates future researchers within the institute's research areas for a career in academia or industry.

Our mission is to ensure that PhD students engage in front line research, whether it is for exploring fundamental issues in aquatic sciences or utilizing new technological approaches to solve some of the major global challenges in climate, biodiversity and food supply. We focus on fostering collaboration with industry, including recruiting industrial PhD students.

Our ambitions are high and we prioritize the development of the individual PhD student by focusing on both academic excellence of international standards and a supportive study environment. PhD students have a principal supervisor and at least one co-supervisor throughout their studies and are an integral part of the research environment. In addition, the institute actively supports PhD students in networking with other PhD students across the scienfic sections.

There are currently around 50 PhD students enrolled at DTU Aqua. We recruit PhD students from all over the world and have a balanced gender distribution.
